The Jamf client must be installed and running on the Mac to run the Self Service.app. For Self Service to run a connection to the university wired network or a wireless network on-campus or off-campus is needed.   • Download the “Install macOS Mojave” app from the Mac App Store. Leverage Jamf Pro tools to package and deploy the new operating system in Jamf Self Service where users can start the upgrade on their own. Caching the install file on users’ Macs will reduce your network load.
  • Step 1 - Launch the Self Service app. You can find the Self Service app in your Applications folder, or just search for it using Spotlight. Self Service in the Applications Folder. Self Service in Spotlight. Step 2 - Locate the desired software package within Self Service. You can either browse to the program or search for it using the built-in search bar. Once you have located it, click on the Install button within its entry and wait for Self Service to indicate that the install has finished.

There are two ways to install Jamf Self Service on managed computers. You can install Self Service automatically on all managed computers using the settings in Jamf Pro, or you can install Self Service using a policy. Installing Self Service using a policy gives you more control over the installation.

Jamf Self Service for macOS 10.10.0 and later can run on macOS 10.11.x or later.

  1. Log in to Jamf Pro.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Settings .

  3. Click Self Service.

  4. Click macOS .

  5. Click Edit.

  6. Select the Install Automatically checkbox.

  7. (Optional) Configure the installation location for Self Service.

  8. Click Save.

Self Service is installed on all managed computers the next time they check in with Jamf Pro. It is also installed on computers as they are newly enrolled.

  1. Log in to Jamf Pro.

  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Settings .

  3. Click Self Service.

  4. Click macOS .

  5. Click Download .
    The Self Service.tar.gz file is downloaded immediately.

  6. Double-click the file to decompress it.

  7. Use Composer or another package-building tool to package the Self Service application included in the file. For information on building packages using Composer, see the Composer User Guide.

  8. Add the package to Jamf Admin or Jamf Pro. For more information, see Managing Packages.

  9. Create a policy to install Self Service. For detailed instructions, see Installing Packages.
